It's been a tough week.

As we journey through life it is often easy to take it for granted.  We get so caught up in our daily lives and forget how fragile life really is.  This hit us especially this week when we had two friends pass away.

Dave and Ralph, although different in ages, were both good hearted people who cared about others and would always leave a smile on your face.  The world needs more Daves and Ralphs.

So as you possibly get ready for one of the most exciting days of your lives, don't forget to look around and see who is there helping you all along the way.  Life is short.  Embrace it and enjoy it with the ones you love.

A Perfect Day for a Wedding! 

     On September 17th a beautiful couple tied the knot. Suzy and Phil flew all the way from their home in Texas to celebrate their special day with their families and friends here in Connecticut at the lovely Black Rock Yacht Club. Having both Suzy and Phil originally from Connecticut it made sense to come back to where it all started and be with their families that still live here. This also meant that we had the pleasure of capturing the newly weds' first moments as a married couple. 

     Everyone took their seats and waited in anticipation. When Suzy emerged from the balcony she wowed everyone with her bright yellow gown. The sun shined high above the outdoor ceremony as the two said "I do." It was a day to be remembered and what better way to remember it than with a perfect view of the sparkling water.

     The groom, Phil, impressed everyone with his very own set list that he put together. Thanks to him, the guests enjoyed being taken back in time as the ultimate 80’s playlist filled the air. Surrounded by loved ones the couple had their first dance and before long everyone was out on the dance floor. The night was filled with fun and dancing which perfectly captured Suzy and Phil’s vibrant personalities. 

     The moon illuminated the night sky and the couple got another round of stunning photos and videos with the beautiful water behind them. With such a lively crowd the party continued on, long into the night showing off all of their classic moves. 

Congratulations to Suzy and Phil! We are grateful to have been a part of such an important day. 

Tutu Trot Video

Hey Everybody,

Every once in a while we get to be a part of something bigger than the bubble most of us tend to live in.  In June we were honored to be asked to film the "Tutu Trot" which took place in Trumbull.  It was a race to benefit two families whose daughters are battling cancer.  It was an amazing time and so awesome to see so many people come out and support the two families.  You can find more information at the below links:

What a week.

It's been an exciting time at Laird Productions.  We just shipped off the master copy of our video we produced for homebuilder D.R. Horton.  In December we flew down to Las Vegas and shot 3 days of footage.  After editing and reediting the footage we finally finished it.  We even had it translated in 3 different languages!  Needless to say it was a great experience and will hopefully help us reach some exciting new clients.  

We also just recently came up with our new logo.  I have been asked many times what does Laird mean or come from?  Well, here you go. 

The word laird, known to have been used as far back as the 15th century and further, is a shortened form of 'laverd', which is an old Scottish word that shares a similar root to an Anglo-Saxon term meaning lord and the Middle English word 'lard' also meaning lord.

My father is Scottish so in an attempt to preserve a bit of my heritage I chose "Laird Productions" as the name of my company.  I hope you enjoy the logo.  We plan on getting some shirts and hats made in the near future.

Canda and Nick's recap

Here is the recap from Canda and Nick's wedding.  They were a super couple to work with and we got some really great footage.  It took place at the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium.  What a great place to shoot. I'm just glad the fish and creatures cooperated.

It's been awhile.

Looking at our blog I noticed that it has really been quite a while since our last post.  This is not on purpose, but unfortunately a casualty of the busy lives that people live.  (My son turns 4 this Friday.)  We have been busy working on a variety of projects, including our first trip to Las Vegas this winter.  If I have a New Year's resolution, which in case you are wondering, I don't ever make.  It will be too make an effort to get us much of our work up as possible and share with you what we do.  Our job, our purpose, is to make you look good and remember what a special and important day your wedding was.  Cheers to the new year and hope it rocks.

New Work!

We are excited to post some new work. Here are Christian and Cristina's recap that was shot in the fall. It was one of the only days that it actually snowed. In fact it was the first. The Waterview in Monroe served as a great backdrop. Hope you enjoy.

After a busy winter editing, we will be posting some new work in the next week. We are very lucky to have worked with some great couples who happen to be very photogenic. On a side note my son just turned two. I am truly lucky to have this little guy in my life.

Fall Weddings!

Today starts the busiest Fall I think Laird Productions has ever had. I am shooting Jessica and Joe's wedding today at Elizabeth Park in Hartford. Looking forward to getting some great Fall foliage.
